Honourable Tasi’u Yamel had achieved a great feat in the few years he spent as a Chairman in Dutsi Local Government Area.

There is no sacrifice greater than where a civil servant a senior one for that matter choose to relinquish his appointment to contest for an elective post. Moreso, knowing fully well the nature of election in our society today a game of chance or luck. So, when Alhaji Tasi’u Yamel decided to retire from his enviable position of a principal officer in the Local Government Service of Katsina State, he was really making a sacrifice. But, sacrifice needs to be made where one thinks his people and the community which he belongs are larger to him than any position he holds.

Honourable Tasi’u Yamel had achieved a great feat in the few years he spent as a Chairman in Dutsi Local Government Area. He derived his leadership philosophy from his previous experience as a Head of Health in various LGAs of the State. Also his unbroken relationship with his home helped a great deal in shaping his leadership outlook. It is on record that throughout his public service career, the Honourable had never abandoned his community. Little wonder that today, even as a Chairman he remained tied to his home come rain, come sunshine. The worn-out clitche ‘KA! MUTANE SUN CIKA DAMUWA’ is never in his lexicon. Honourable Tasi’u preferred to remain to laugh when there is happiness and shed tears in times of tribulation along with his people.

His track record of community development efforts and services are there for all to see. In fact, we really had difficulty in picking out which projects are we to document and which are not. We had to embark on so much add and drop to finally come up with what now is before you.

There is no sector in the development drive of the Honourable which did not touch the life of the Dutsi LGA masses. Health, Education, Agriculture, Social Services, name it have crisscrossed the nook and cranny of the LGA. The rural feeder roads have made hitherto cut-off communities accessible. Indeed, there is today no ward or village area which is not connected to Dutsi, the LGA Headquarter.

In the area of health, the result on the score-sheet is predictable. This is a terrain with which the Honourable Chairman is well at home. As a seasoned health worker and medical practitioner he knows better how to enlighten his people to be hygienic; he knows how to sieve good drugs from the expired or fake ones; he knows how to deal with drug contractors; he knows how to relate with his health personnel by motivating them; above all, he knows more than you and me how to organize and run an effective, efficient and goal oriented health delivery machinery in his LGA.
