Local Government at the time of creating Katsina State on the 23rd
September 1987, was among the seven old Local Government that exists
in the State. It was created since 1976
The people of the Local Government are
predominantly Hausa -Fulani, the Local government is bounded by Musawa
Local Government by the North, Kankara Local Government by the West
Gwarzo Local Government in (Kano State) by the East, and Bakori Local
Government by South, Dams and Streams exist for irrigation farming.
The Local is endowed with Agricultural
potentialities and the whether is mild. The People are predominantly
farmers and in dry season they engage themselves in, dry season
farming and petty trading to sustain their livelihood. They grow both
food and cash crops ie Maize, Guinea-corn, Groundnut, and Cotton.
The inhabitants are predominantly Muslims.
There are also some Christians in the LG areas. They live in peace and
harmony regardless of their religious differences.
There exist post primary institutions,
Girls and Boys Day and Boarding Secondary Schools with 300 teaching
staff, and 24,121, students and Business apprentice training centre;
There are 66 Primary Schools with 1500 teaching staff and 84,1 26,
pupils, with (10) private Primary Schools. There is General Hospital
and Dispensaries. The town has for long been enjoying electricity.
There are a number of Ginneries and the people enjoy pipe bone waters.
There is a trunk (A) road that passed
through town from Funtua,, Katsina lndustnes can be established, such
as grains and, Flour mills, automobiles, workshop textiles industries,
Tomato puree industry and others.
The District Area, which comprises of 18
