Mai’adua Local Government Council was created on Tuesday 1st
October 1991. It is one of the thirty-four (34) local government
councils in Katsina State.
Mai’adua Local Government Council has two districts namely
Mai’adua and Koza, with Ten (10) electoral wards viz:

It borders Daura local government in the South, Mashi and
Dutsi Local Government Councils in the West with Zango Local
government Council in the East and shares an international border with
Niger Republic in the North.
Mai’adua Local Government Council has a very good road
network with a trunk. A tarred road stretching a distance of twenty
four (24) kilometres from Daura town and ten (10) kilometres to Niger
Republic.
Maradua has a very big market and an international market
operat j on Sundays. People from far anó near distance places usually
troops to the market on Sundays to buy and sell especially live stocks
such as cattle, sheeps, camels, donkeys and other domestic animals.
The market also serves as a centre for buying and selling of
Agricultural produce sw:h as millet and beans which were cultivated in
abundance in the area.
Knowing the importance of the knowledge to the people, the
Local Government Council under the leadership of Honourable Aihaji
Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo built Primary Schools, furnished and provided
them with learning materials.
He encourages and supports communities to build Community Day
Secondary Schools, and being a practicing Moslem, he built a large
number of Islamiyya Schools and equipped them with teaching and
learning materials, such as Late Abubakar Muhammud Gumi Islamiyya
Memorial School at Mai’adua. Because of this, people from neighbouring
towns and villages do send their children to the Local Government to
acquire qualitative Islamic Education.
The people of Mai’adua are HausaFulani and they are
predominantly farmers who engages in both dry and rainy season
farming. They equally engage in fishing which assists them a lot in
boosting their financial capability. Thanks to the favourable weather
provided by Almighty Allah and the Sabke Dam, which is suitable for
irrigation activities and farming.There is also irrigation activities
in Koza and Tsiga areas of the Local Government Council.
The Local Government Council also have a General Hospital in
Mai’adua town built by the Local Government and Five Maternal Child
Health (M.C.H) Clinic and other clinics to enhance health care
delivery system to the people.
Generally, the people of Mai’adua Local Government area are
hardworking, accommodating and peace loving.
