BRIEF HISTORY OF KAFUR
LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Created in 1991,
by the former military Head of State General Ibrahim Badamasi
Banbangida(IBB).
The Local Government consists of two
District Heads namely; Kafur District created and curved out from
Malumfashi District with Alh. Rabe Abdullahi, with the title of
Dangaladima Katsina, appointed in 1992 and Alh. Bello Abdulakdir as
the District Head of Mahuta, with title of Danejin Katsina created and
curved out from Kafur District in the year 2003.
The Local Government is bounded at
North-West with Danja Local Government Area Bounded by Karaye Local
Government Area of Kano State North-East, and bounded by Malumfashi
and Bakori Local Government Areas by South-West. 4 number Day
Secondary School exists. There are 5 number areas c•urts namely: -
Mahuta, Dankajiba, Kafur, Gamzago and Gozaki a police station and a
civic Registration centre. There are mineral resources, which can be
harnessed, such as diamond deposit at Masari Ward.
The people of Kafur Local Government are
predominantly farmers, and dry season period they engage themselves in
dry season farming and petty trading to sustain their livelihood.
There are potential areas of investment such as grains mills, Sugar
industry and tannery Industry. Also clay deposit can be found in large
quantity for bricks making, Automobile workshop can be constructed, as
there are ample resources for that purpose.
The people enjoy pipe-borne water. There
is also a Trunk A road from Malumfashi that crossed Káfur town linking
with Zaria of about 78 kilometers.
It has a projected population of 448,000.
History of Kafur town
The town of Kafur was founded 250 years
ago, by a hunter called Badauri, a Fulani man.
Thereafter, the town has settled down with
some people from neighbouring and distant places .One warrior called
Mijin Yawa attacked the town, and captured Kafur and he killed all the
Islamic teachers and set the town ablaze, thus, drove away all the
people and their families leaving the town, in debris.
The town was later re-built by the then
Emir of Katsina Abubakar and subsequently appointed one Sulaiman as
first village head of Kafur. Thereafter the Village began to witness
some progress. After the death of Sulaiman, Alu was appointed as the
second village head of Kafur. The two village Heads, Sulaiman and Alu,
were among the rulers of Makauraci, who migrated from Makauraci and
settled at Kafur. Abdullahi Dan-Magajiya the son of Galadima Sallau
succeeded Alu. After his death, he was succeeded by his son Dan-Galadima
Mani. This was the forth Village Head of Kafur. He was succeeded by
the present District Head of Kafur Ath. Rabe Abdullahi who was
initially appointed as 5th Village Head of Kafur. He was appointed to
the throne of District of Kafur on 4th June 1992.

Alhaji Rabe Abdullahi was born on 2nd
March 1 992 in Kafur, He attended elementary school Kafur and joined
the Native Authority Police and later deployed to Nigerian Army. He
resigned in 1 977 and was turbanned as the Village Head of Kafur. When
Kafur Local Government was created on the 23rd September 1991, Alh.
Rabe Abdullahi was appointed the District Head of Kafur in 1992.

AIh. Rabe Abdullahi is an astute leader
worthy of emulation, his hobbies includes horse riding, reading of
Holy Qur’an and other Islamic books, and above all maintaining law and
order amongst his subject at all times. He is married with wives and
many children and grand children.
